The winners of this year’s People of the Year Awards, which are organised by Rehab and sponsored by QUINN-healthcare, will be unveiled on RTÉ One television this Saturday September 11th, after the Nine O’Clock News. The glittering awards ceremony will be presented by the gorgeous Gráinne Seoige live from the Citywest Hotel, Dublin.
Amongst the Award winners to be announced will be the recipient of the International Person of the Year and the Young Person of the Year awards, as well as two special awards in 2010 for Garda of the Year and Inspiring Mum of the Year.
The People of the Year Awards is Ireland’s answer to a national honours system and among the longest-running Awards events in the country. The Awards, which celebrate their 36th anniversary in 2010, provide a unique opportunity for the Irish public to honour contributions made by individuals and organisations to life in Ireland.
The winners are nominated by members of the public and finalised by a panel of adjudicators – past recipients include the Irish rugby team, Sir Terry Wogan, Ronan Keating, Padraig Harrington, Mary Robinson, Sir Bob Geldof, Seamus Heaney, Veronica Guerin, Mo Mowlam, Christy Moore, Kenny Egan and Keith Duffy.
