Singing Sensation Ryan O’Shaughnessy to Perform at 2012 People of the Year Awards

06 September 2012

Singing sensation and Britain’s Got Talent star Ryan O’Shaughnessy has been confirmed as the special guest performer at this year’s People of the Year Awards ceremony, which will be broadcast live from the Citywest Hotel, Dublin, on RTÉ One television after the RTÉ News and Weather on Saturday, 15th September.

The Britain’s Got Talent finalist will perform his hit single “No Name” to a live audience at the Awards venue, as well as to hundreds of thousands of viewers watching at home. He debuted the self-penned song during his audition at the UK talent show, leaving viewers deeply touched with his heartfelt performance. The much-anticipated single “No Name” and his self-titled album were released in late August, with the album instantly entering the official Irish album charts at number 1.

The People of the Year Awards are Ireland’s answer to an honours system and provide a unique opportunity for the Irish public to honour outstanding contributions made by individuals and organisations to life in Ireland. Ryan is thrilled to be performing, saying of the Awards, “I’m delighted to be part of this inspirational event and the amazing people it honours. My home town of Skerries won the Community Group of the Year Award last year for its demonstration of unstinting community support in the face of the awful tragedy of two men lost at sea and so I am very aware of the huge esteem in which these awards are held and what they mean to people. I’m looking forward to meeting this year’s winners and to congratulating them on their outstanding achievements.”
