Graeme McDowell

Golfer Graeme McDowell received a People of the Year Award for his stunning win at the 110th US Open. The first Irishman and the first European since 1970 to lift the trophy, his fantastic triumph delighted the nation. The Award was presented by Mary Hanafin TD, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport and Christy O’Connor Junior.

Owen O'Keefe

Owen O'Keefe from Fermoy in Co. Cork was named the Young Person of the Year at the 2010 People of the Year Awards. The Award, which recognises Owen's achievement in being the youngest Irish person to swim the English channel, was presented by rugby pundit, Brent Pope.

Emma Fogarty

Emma Fogarty was honoured with a People of the Year Award for her extraordinary campaigning work and courageous determination to raise awareness of EB, or Epidermolysis Bullosa, in the face of her own huge personal struggle with the condition.

Gay and Lesbian Equality Network

The Gay and Lesbian Equality Network (GLEN) received a People of the Year Award for its tireless work over many years in making Ireland a more equal, fairer and open society, resulting in the historic enactment of the Civil Partnership Act in July 2010.
